Temari: Making Japanese Thread Balls (Morning Session)

Temari: Making Japanese Thread Balls (Morning Session) In-Person

Presented by Textile Artist Mary Hussey

Temari balls were introduced to Japan from China, and are crafted with simple materials in different geometric and ornate patterns. Temari balls were used to play kemari, a type of ancient hacky sack, and became a common New Year’s gift for children in Japan.

Explore this beautiful craft and create your own temari ball! Registrants will receive a prepared ball and two skeins to stitch with.

On Saturday, June 14, at Library Headquarters, Manalapan, Textile Artist Mary Hussey will present two temari-making sessions. By registering below, you are signing up for the Morning Session from 10:00 am to about 11:30 am. Please click here to sign up for the Afternoon session (2:00 - 3:30 pm). Time will vary depending on design.
