 (AAUW)\n\nJoin us at Library HQ for an interesting afternoon talk by the 
 award-winning Professor of History Jane Scimeca of Brookdale Community 
 College.\n\nProfessor Scimeca will be speaking about her writing project - 
 the biography of NJ Hall of Fame inductee and former owner of Monmouth 
 County's Thompson Park\, Geraldine Thompson. Raised in New York during the 
 Gilded Age\, Mrs. Thompson became the most influential woman in New Jersey 
 history. Her accomplishments in public health\, prison reform\, child 
 welfare\, politics and philanthropy place her among the greatest women of 
 her generation.\n\nProfessor Scimeca\, who was awarded Brookdale Community 
 College's Barringer Award\, has made significant contributions to her 
 students and women's history through her writing and podcast. Ms. Scimeca 
 will share how you might begin to research women's history\, how to find 
 the story\, and why Geraldine Thompson is still relevant.\n\nRegistration 
 is not needed. Program is open to the public.\n\nThe Freehold Area Branch 
 of the American Association of University Women was founded in 1969. Their 
 mission is to advance gender equity for women and girls through research\, 
 education\, and advocacy. They support educational opportunities for women 
 and girls of all ages. Each year the AAUW provides several thousand dollars 
 in awards to the highest ranking female graduate from each school in the 
 Freehold Regional High School District\, and scholarships to Monmouth and 
 Middlesex County women returning to college.
