eBird and Merlin: Using Free Tools to Find, Record, and Identify Birds In-Person
Presented by Gregg Eldred, Program Director of Monmouth County Audubon Society
Co-Sponsored by the Monmouth County Audubon Society
Learn about two free tools, Merlin and eBird, that help you identify and track birds. Gregg Eldred will demonstrate how Merlin quickly identifies birds by sight and sound using easy-to-follow guides, photos, and audio recordings. Gregg will also demonstrate eBird, an innovative tool for tracking and recording bird sightings using interactive maps, recent sightings, and photos. Finally, Gregg will share a bird hotspot map, that uses data from eBird, and books that are available through the Monmouth County Library System that can enhance your bird experience in Monmouth County and New Jersey.
Gregg Eldred is the Program Director for Monmouth County Audubon Society (MCAS). He started birdwatching his backyard feeders in 2020 and quickly started visiting local parks to see more birds.
