The Nike Air Defense Guided Missile System at Sandy Hook In-Person
Before it was a beach destination, Sandy Hook held a closely guarded secret: a fully operational guided missile site protecting the entire New York metropolitan area from surprise Soviet attack. Join us for a fascinating look at this once-classified Cold War installation. The program will describe how the Nike missile system worked and what day-to-day life was like for the soldiers stationed there. It is a hidden piece of local history most people never knew existed. Presented by Bill Jackson, Fort Hancock Nike Association.
